The 4 most important principal of bughouse are:

I. Don’t get mated

II. Don’t lose on time

III. Don’t lose material

IV. Don't trade for no reason

Those above are more important than the important 5^th and 7^th principles:

4    V. Mate your opponent

5    VI. Win material

The reason is that if you obey the first three principles but not the 4^th and 5^th, your partner can win.  If you disobey those principles, your team will lose.  There are other issues such as:
